Systems Analysis

A system is characterised by its input and output relationships, as shown in Figure 1, where x(t) is the signal at the input and y(t) is the signal at the output of the system. The system can represent several things, e.g., a circuit, a chemical process, etc. We can identify the following descriptions of a system:

  • Linearity

  • Invariance over time

  • Memory

  • Causality

  • Stability
