Synthesis of analogue filters

In the synthesis of analog filters, the template is defined by specific filter characteristics. It is crucial to specify :

  • The gain of the filter in the passband (typically ≈0 dB),

  • The attenuation of the occupied band of the filter typically ranges from 30 dB to 90 dB,

  • The cutoff frequency (one in the case of a low-pass or high-pass filter, and two in the case of a band-pass or band-stop filter),

  • The transition bandwidth, which is generally recommended to be as small as possible,

These specifications serve as essential parameters in the design of analogue filters, ensuring they meet the desired performance criteria.
