Course Description

This course introduces industrial electronics and its application to the control of electrical machines. It covers power electronic control devices, DC and AC machine control, vector control, modern control techniques, and filtering.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze electronic control systems for electrical machines.

  • Understand and apply DC, induction, and synchronous machine control techniques.

  • Implement basic vector and modern control strategies.

  • Analyze and simulate electrical drive systems.

Practical Work

  • Position control of a DC motor supplied by a chopper.

  • V/f control of an induction motor.

  • Speed control of a PMSM using voltage and current sources.

  • Speed control of a BLDC motor.
